The Soulstealer’s claw is a fast firing auto rifle that can be obtained from the Prison of Elders and after a year... this is still a beast in the crucible. So lets talk about it in this video!

Welcome back guardians for another destiny weapon review video, in this video we are going to review the Prison of Elders auto rifle the Soulstealer’s Claw.
This is a fast firing autorifle in the 2 impact category, other guns in this similar archetype is the famous Trials Doctrine of Passing, the Armsday Arminius-D, the Iron Banner Unbent Tree , the New Monarchy Autorifle the assembly II and the Crucible Hexcaster ARC.
I already reviewed the Arminius D and the new monarchy Assembly II auto rifles, if you haven’t seen it yet there is a link in the description below or click on the YouTube Card that will pop up now in the right corner.

When we compare the Soulstealer’s Claw with the others you will see that it has an above average range, stability, mag size and aim assist and with the right perks this can become even better than the famous Doctrine of Passing.
But first of all how can you get this gun? This gun is obtainable by ranking up the House of Judgements and Variks may reward you with a SoulStealer’s Claw.
I recommend ranking up by doing the Prison of Elders bounties and if you still have the house of judgement reputation boosters in your vault use them for the extra xp boost!
Also don't forget that you can scrap the old prison of elders item like armour core , tokens and treasure keys for extra reputation xp as well.

My Soulstealers claw has the following perks:
Red Dot ORS
Red Dot ORES
Perfect Balance
Hand-Laid Stock
Snapshot
Glass Half Full
Hip Fire

Mine is not a god roll but as you can see from the clips this gun can still do work.

In my opinion the god roll would be send it in the first column with counter balance in the last column, and its up to your preference with the middle column i would opt for single point sling so you can strafe faster, giving you a slight edge in your engagements.
The extra range boost from send it in combination with counterbalance which will remove the side to side recoil and makes the recoil only go vertically can make this gun even better than the famous doctrine of passing.
With this combination you will have a very stable gun with an easy to control recoil which will be very effective on a pretty crazy range for an autorifle.
The fast firing auto rifles usually lack in range and stability, and their effective range is close to medium range and the damage fall off is rather steep.
So the soulstealers claw already has a small advantage with an inherent base range of 24 compared with only 15 from the doctrine and if you pair this up with send it the range will go all the way up to 52 which is insanely high for an autorifle. And the Doctrine on the other hand does not have any range increasing perks so the max range is only capped at 27, which prevent the doctrine from being as effective at those longer ranges.
So with CounterBalance and Send it,  you will have a killer autorifle which is similar like the Doctrine but with a lot more range.

My roll does not have counterbalane but with perfect balance the recoil is still easily manageable and this gun feels consistent to use. I feel confident to pass the medium range and still hit those shots to finish off a kill, whereas other fast firing autorifles will not be that accurate in the same range.

But you will still want to stay out of the medium to long range, so you can cover that range with a sniper rifle in your secondary slot. But I would recommend a close quarters set up because that is where the strength is of this gun, you can pair it up with either a shotgun or a sidearm for the super short ranges and rely on the autorifle for the close to medium encounters.

So to conclude the Soulstealer’s claw is a fantastic autorifle with great base stats and with the right perks it can become even better than the Doctrine of Passing when you have the God roll Send It Counterbalance version of the gun. The God roll will extend the range of your gun and make you very effective on those longer ranges where autorifles usually had a hard time engaging in and that will guarantee to surprise guardians with your engagement on those longer ranges.
But even if you dont have the God Roll perks this gun will still do you good in the crucible. And luckily due to the possible perk options in the first column you will always have either a range increase with Hammer Forged or Send it or stability increase with perfect balance or both with smallbore. Although you really want to have Send it, having any of the other perks will complement the gun very well and using smallbore to bump both stats up is also a good option since the mag size is already so high you can take that hit in the reduced mag size.
The only downside is that this gun is so hard to get. You will need to rank up House of Judgement in order to get a chance on getting this weapon. Prison of Elders and Challenge of Elders are not the most fun PVE activity to play and the other guns that you get from these activities are pretty lackluster, so there is not a lot of incentive to play this PVE activity other than on having a chance to get the SoulStealer’s Claw.
But if you manage to get one , go have fun with it and let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are about this gun.

So that sums it up for this video, A like is appreciated if you enjoyed this video.
