My ICEBREAKER Finally DROPPED! But What NOW? a NOSTALGIA Story

Welcome Guardians, this is the YouTube Channel for all things Destiny! This channel aims to provide you news, gameplay and tips & tricks for Destiny. Join and Subscribe for more videos!

So my IceBreaker finally dropped in the Nightfall, but what now? What activities are useful for the Icebreaker and let's bring back some Icebreaker stories. We will talk about the nostalgia of the Icebreaker, how the icebreaker was loved and how it transitioned into year 3.
The icebreaker is not the powerhouse exotic anymore from year 1 and in year 3 much have changed but the icebreaker still stands it ground despite its flaws.
The Icebreaker is still useful both Pve and Pvp but the nerf has hit the gun hard. Watch this video where I will tell you the story about the ICEBREAKER!

Hi guardians my icebreaker finally dropped after playing countless of nightfalls. During all the nightfalls, every week at least one of my fireteam member got an icebreaker dropped, week after week and in the end I finally got one as well. If you haven’t got one dropped yet just continue grinding the nightfall and sooner or later you will get one dropped as well.

So what makes the Ice breaker so special is its exotic perk No Backpack which allows the gun to regenerate ammo up to 6 bullets but at the expense that the gun can not be reloaded.
And the other exotic perk is Ice Breaker which makes every kill explode like the Firefly perk dealing damage to their surroundings.
Also ONE particular stat stands out as well for this gun which is the range. This is the only sniper rifle with a max out range stat of 100. This means that the gun basically does not have any damage fall off at all.

So lets assume that you have an Ice breaker as well but what now?
In what activities should you use the icebreaker and does this gun have any use in the game or is it just another collectors item.

So Lets start with the different activities where you can use the ice breaker. Obviously PVE will come to mind , especially during activities where you have juggler as a modifier. For those who are not familiar with this, this is a modifier which causes your enemies not to drop any ammo for your equipped weapon. Obviously icebreaker will be very good here since it automatically regenerates ammo for you. But is this really practical? In my opinion not really, first of all if you are looking for sniper ammo you just simply need to switch weapons to either your primary or heavy and with any kills you might have a chance that you enemies are dropping ammo for your sniper.
Also the icebreaker can only hold six bullets while a normal sniper can hold at least double the amount.
And the regen ability of the icebreaker? Well since the icebreaker nerf it now takes 7 seconds to create a bullet whereas before this was only 5 seconds which takes some time but it was still in an acceptable range. But 7 seconds is long time to create one bullet, as for a matter of effect let me demonstrate how long that is just to gain one additional bullet 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and that’s just one bullet, so to get the full mag it takes 42 seconds to create 6 bullets!
In the meantime you might as well switch to a normal sniper kill a bunch of stuff get the ammo and have a full mag which is more than the 6 bullets from the icebreaker within the same amount of time.
So to be honest this gun is not that practical , but it is cool that your enemies explode when you kill them with the icebreaker though. [clip killing enemy with icebreaker]

And in raids you are also probably better of with any of the other high impact snipers because 6 bullets just is not enough for a typical damage phase with any boss. A normal sniper would be able to empty their full ammo of around 18 bullets provided you have the perks that allows you to carry extra sniper ammo and still have time left over to switch to your primary or heavy to finish a damage phase. So DPS wise Icebreaker just doesn't cut it neither.

So how about PVP the ammo regen must come in handy there right? Well yes it does but the problem is again 8 seconds is a long time , especially in crucible. and unless the enemy is controlling the special ammo, you should be able to gather enough special ammo for a normal  sniper usage. Unless you are part of the 1% that is using the sniper as your primary

Oh yeah and you respawn without ammo… Really?    what? .

But the Icebreaker does have qualities that will shine in the crucible, first of all it has quickdraw so you can quickly switch to your icebreaker and it has mulligan so when you miss a shot it has a chance to return the bullet back to your mag. And as mentioned before the maxout range means that you will not face any damage fall off even when you are on one of the the biggest maps.
But the icebreaker is not perfect the stability on this gun is awefull making follow up shots hard to handle.  [clip of follow up shots]

So it sounds like I hate this gun, but dont get me wrong I LOVE the ICEBREAKER. As for a matter a fact the icebreaker has a special place in my Destiny time because this is the first exotic that I got. I still remember that back in year 1 I got the Icebreaker from an legendary engram and I was so excited about it.
This gun brings back a lot of memories especially for all the year 1 players, where this gun is famous for its use to cheese bosses. What we used to do was to sit back in a safe spot and unload the icebreaker on the boss or you wait until all the bullets are regenerated and then switch to your black hammer which became the black spindle in year 2, and then shoot the boss infinitely since the black hammer during that time could generate bullets out of thin air provided you have precision hits. Or in year 1 when you are out of sniper ammo you could use the icebreaker to regenerate the mag and then switch out to your favorite sniper which will now have a full mag.

So all of that is not applicable now anymore since the icebreaker nerf and there are not a lot of safe spots anymore and most of the bosses have some mechanics that either forces you to move around or the boss is spawning away and you need to kill adds to get the boss respawned again like the renewed omnigul strike.

But damn this is such a fun gun to play with,  And also the aesthetics of the gun is so unique , there is no other gun that looks or sound like the icebreaker.
[show ornaments and clip of icebreaker sound]

So yes the Icebreaker may not have great use anymore in the game, but damned it is still a fun gun to use. It is unique, it looks beautiful and sounds great ,and the enemies explode when you kill them! This is truly one of my all time favorite exotic in the game and I am happy that Bungie brought it back to year 3.

So those are my thoughts on the icebreaker. Before I end this video I am curious how many people there are here from year 1 , 2 and 3. Let me know in the comment box when you started this game!

All Year 3 Iron Banner Weapons & Recommended Rolls

Hi Guardians in this video I will be giving you an overview of all the different year 3 Iron banner weapons with my suggested rolls for Pvp and Pve.
We will start first with the primaries , afterwards the secondaries and we will finish up with the heavy weapons.
As we are going through the weapons if I have an in depth weapon review on a particular gun I will add this as a YouTube Card which you can find in the upper right hand corner. I will also make sure to add the video link in the description below.

Before I start with the weapon overview lets first talk about how you can obtain these guns. All of the mentioned guns in this video can be obtained when Iron Banner is around. Iron Banner is a monthly event and every time different guns will be sold. So you can either obtain these guns by visiting the vendor or you can get one dropped as a reward by doing one of the Iron Banner bounties that will reward you with a weapon.
So make sure you check out the bounty description as there are also bounties that reward you with an armour instead of a weapon so make sure you are progressing on the correct bounty.

So with that aside let’s start with the weapon overview:

The Clever Dragon - Pulse Rifle
Pvp: Injection Mold, High Caliber Rounds, Rangefinder
Pve: Perfect Balance ,Appended Magazine, Outlaw

The clever dragon is one of the best gun in the game right now, if you havent got one yet go get it when iron banner is around.
The pvp roll that you are looking for is Injection Mold, High Caliber Rounds and Rangefinder
Alternatively you can also use Perfect balance, High Caliber Rounds and Counterbalance instead.
For PVE you really want to focus more on being accurate and getting as many shots on target as possible, so I can recommend Perfect Balance , Appended Magazine and Outlaw.
Perfect balance to help you with your accuracy and appended mag increase the bullets in your mag and the slower reload from the perk is negated with outlaw which will grant you a fast reload on precision kills.

The Unbent Tree - Auto Rifle
Pvp: Perfect Balance, Single Point Sling,  Counterbalance
Pve: Hammer Forged, Appended Magazine,  Focused Fire

The unbent tree is in the famous Doctrine of Passing fast firing low impact archetype.
For Pvp you really need to have counterbalance and perfect balance to control the recoil. The middle column does not offer too many interesting choices, but I would go for Single Point Sling for the extra handling speed.
High Firing auto rifle is really pea shooter in PVE, I do not recommend to use one at all. But if you must I would recommend Hammer Forged, appended magazine and focused fire. Because the damage in PVE is rather low I recommend to use Focused Fire to up the damage a bit and appended mag so you can sustain your DPS as much as possible before you need to reload the gun and since focus fire also lowers the recoil we will choose hammer forged to improve the range because the damage fall off are very steep for auto rifles.

The Distant Star - Scout Rifle
Pvp: Injection Mold, Full Auto, Hidden Hand
Pve: Injection Mold, Extended Mag, Firefly

The distant star is basically a Mini-Mida Multi Tool, so for Pvp to replicate the MIDA strengths we want to focus on accuracy with injection mold and hidden hand, and Full Auto to replicate the hair trigger’ness of the Mida.
The Distant star is also great for PVE, too be frank this is currently my go to PVE gun with the perks Injection mold, extended mag and firefly. Injection mold helps with accuracy and the combination of extended mag and firefly means that you can easily deal with large crowd of enemies.

The Lingering Song - Hand Cannon
Pvp: Rifled Barrel, Quickdraw, Rangefinder
Pve: Hammer forged, Extended Mag, Firefly

The lingering song is one of the hardest hitting hand cannon with an impact stat of 94. As with all the other hand cannons range is king, so we want to have Rifled Barrel and rangefinder and quickdraw to top it off for a Pvp roll.
For Pve I would switch rifled barrel for Hammer Forged instead as this will not lower the already low reload speed of the gun and we have extended mag to delay the need to reload and firefly to deal with large crowd of enemies in PVE. But too be honest use a scout rifle instead, the reload speed is really too slow for Pve usage.

The Binding Blaze - Sidearm
Pvp: Hand Loaded, Quickdraw, Rangefinder
Pve: Hand Loaded, Appended Magazine, Crowd Control

The next one up is the sidearm the Binding Blaze, Sidearms suffers the same steep range fall off as with hand cannons so for a pvp roll we will focus on range with Hand loaded and rangefinder and Quickdraw so you can switch to your secondary when needed as fast as possible.
For Pve we have a similar build but then with appended magazine and crowd control to make you as lethal as possible and the extra bullets from appended mag will help with sustaining extra damage before you need to reload..

The Laughing Heart - Sniper
Pvp: Smallbore, Quickdraw, Hidden hand
Pve: Injection Mold, Speed reload, triple tap

For the sniper I recommend a pvp roll that is focused on being as accurate as possible with smallbore to boost both stability and range and hidden hand for the extra consistency, we top this off with quickdraw.
The Pve roll will have injection mold for a big boost in stability and triple tap and speed reload will help you sustain the dps as much as possible.

The Branded Lord - Fusion Rifle
Pvp: Smallbore, Quickdraw, Rangefinder
Pve: Smallbore, Accelerated Coils, Life Support

The Branded Lord Fusion Rifle, Both range and stability are essential for a good Fusion rifle so I recommend smallbore for both the Pvp and Pve roll. In addition to that quickdraw and rangefinder will top it off for the Pvp roll and for Pve I recommend accelerated coils so you can charge the gun and get the shots off faster  and since fusion rifles are not that effective at a distance you will need be to in close proximity to your enemies so life support is crucial to help you survive those close engagements.

The Proud Spire - Shotgun
Pvp: Rifled Barrel, Quickdraw, Rangefinder
Pve: Rifled Barrel, Casket Mag, Full Auto

The Iron Banner Shotgun the Proud Spire. Shotguns are all about range so you want to max out the range stat with rifled barrel and rangefinder for a solid pvp roll and quickdraw will help you switch to your secondary faster. I would personally stay away from the low impact shotguns , do yourself a favor and stick with the high impact ones. If you dont have a good high impact shotgun go ahead and buy the dead orbit vendor shotgun the Last Ditch which has a solid roll straight out of the box.
The Proud Spire can make a good shotgun in Pve thought. Especially when you have full auto and casket mag so you can fire off as many bullets as fast as possible. This will be good for dealing with multiple enemies or captains during strikes and nightfalls.

The Silvered Dread - Machine Gun
Pvp: Injection Mold, Extended mag, Counter Balance
Pve: Injection Mold, Field Scout, Counter Balance

The silvered dread is one of the best all round machine guns at the moment in the game. I have discussed this in detail in my weapon review which should pop up now in this video. Go ahead and check out that video with the YouTube card or see the link in the description below.
What you want for this gun is injection mold and counter balance for the extra stability. In addition you want to have Extended mag for pvp so you can delay the need to reload and field scout for pve because the more bullets you have the more damage you can do.

The Titanium Orchid - Rocket Launcher
Pvp: Hard Launch, Heavy Payload, Grenades and Horseshoes
Pve: Hard Launch, Heavy Payload, Grenades and Tracking

The final weapon is the Iron banner rocket launcher the titanium orchid. This is a solid allround rocket launcher with great base stats. As with any other rocket launcher you want to focus on maximizing the blast radius and velocity. So Hard launch and heavy payload will be the preferred perks. And for pvp you obviously want to have grenades and horseshoes for the proximity detonation and for pve you want to have tracking instead.

So those are all the year 3 iron banner weapons. Here is a final overview of all the weapons with the recommended rolls.

I would strongly recommend you to get the Clever Dragon, The Distant Star and the Silvered Dread those guns are really good. The Clever Dragon is one of the best weapons at this moment in time for the crucible and the Pve recommended Distant Star is really good in dealing with vast amount of enemies in pve and the Silvered dread is just an all round good weapon for both pvp and pve.

So that sums up this video! A like would be appreciated if you enjoyed this video, and dont forget to subscribe if you havent done so yet to stay up to date on my latest videos.
Thanks for watching and as always I will see you in the next video guardians!

The Silvered Dread Review Best All-Round Machine Gun!

Welcome Guardians, this is the YouTube Channel for all things Destiny! This channel aims to provide you news, gameplay and tips & tricks for Destiny. Join and Subscribe for more videos!

The Silvered Dread is one of the best machine guns in the game. Let me tell you why in this video!
[Intro]

Welcome back guardians here is another in depth weapon review for you and today we are going to review the Iron Banner Machine gun the Silvered Dread.
The description is says: “forged in the honor of Felwinter, he who tried to avert the doom on the horizon”

This gun can only be obtained when iron banner is around, which happens on a monthly basis. Once Iron banner is live you can either get it from the vendor when it is sold or you might have a chance to obtain one from a weapon package bounty.

Let's start with the roll that I got on my Silvered Dread:
The barrels are all the same, but the other perks might differ.
So we have:
Aggressive Ballistics
Accurized Ballistics and
Linear compensator
Hand Laid Stock
Oiled Frame
Quick Draw
Extended Mag
Counter Balance
Grenadier

This is one of the better rolls that you can get , it ticks off all the important perks for a well rolled Pvp machine gun. It has Hand Laid Stock and Counter Balance to make this gun as accurate as possible and Extended Mag is fantastic for Pvp as you don’t want to be caught up in a reload during a round of heavy.
As you can see for my muzzle choice I have Linear compensator which not only up my damage from 37 to 41 like aggressive and Accurized Ballistics but it also improves the recoil by removing the side to side recoil and basically acting as a counterbalance perk.
Overall in my opinion this is one of the better rolls for Pvp, where hand laid stock and counterbalance helps you with your accuracy and extended mag makes you as lethal as possible by delaying the time that is needed to reload your gun.

Here is an overview of all the possible rolls.
In the first column any stability perk will do , but the best one would be perfect balance as this does not hurt any other stat , other alternatives would be hand laid stock or braced frame. For continues DPS hand laid stock would be the better choice over braced frame , since braced frame will reduce the magazine size and thus also your dps.
For the second column extended mag will be great for pvp so you can be as lethal as possible by delaying your need to reload as long as possible.
And Field scout would be more suitable for PVE, so you can carry more ammo.
As for the last column counter balance would be my number one pick followed by rangefinder and hidden hand. Counterbalance removes the side to side recoil so that it only goes vertically, which makes it easier for you to handle and rangefinder or hidden hand are both an all round good perk to have on any machine gun.

Overall I am really a fan of this mid impact archetype machine gun. I never liked the faster firing ones as I find the impact too low and the recoil is dread awful. The high impact machine guns are fun to use but it usually comes with a very low magazine size and that will really hurt your kill streak during a round of heavy, as I find myself caught up in a reload most of the time and by the time you switch to your primary you are already outgunned by the opponent with a bigger magazine size or rocket launcher. And in PVE the low mag size also becomes a problem, where you spend more time reloading than doing actually DPS to your enemies, this especially becomes an issue in raids during DPS phases, where you want to put as much DPS as possible and spend less time on reloading.
So the mid impact archetype has in my opinion a good balance of fire rate and magazine size, and the Silvered Dread is one of the best in this archetype.

You should definitely get your hands on one when Iron Banner is around again.
This gun is honestly one of the best Machine guns that you can get in the game right now. The base stats are relatively high in all categories, range, stability and reload speed. It is just an overall solid gun, even when you do not have the in my opinion god roll perfect balance, extended mag and counterbalance it will still do you good as there are not a lot of bad perks in the perk trees.
So go get your hands on one when Iron Banner is around!

Thats it for today’s video, let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are.
