Swaye here with a Destiny video. Today we are going to talk about the Iron Banner Scout Rifle Colovance’s Duty. The description says: “A precision-fire weapon, forged by the lords of the Iron banner”!.
I got mine dropped by a Rank 5 package, but you can also buy it when you reach level 4 or get this dropped by playing Iron Banner when at least one of your character is Rank 3 in this January Iron Banner.
This gun falls in the harder hitting high impact scout rifles together with the Jade Rabbit , Last Extremity and the Arm Day gun Cocytus SR4. The range is the highest among legendaries with only Jade Rabbit topping this. The high impact is compensated by a slower rate of fire, this makes it necessary to make your shots count otherwise this will significantly increase your time to kill.
My Colovance’s Duty comes with Red Dot ORS 1, Ranged Lens RLR5 and QuickDraw IS.
Crowd Control, gain bonus damage after a kill
Armor piercing rounds
Injection Mold, increased stability reduce range
Rifled Barrel, increase range slower reload
and grenadier, reduce cooldown of your grenades after a kill
This gun will reward a skilled precision player, so you would like to have perks that will keep that momentum going on. Perks you will be looking for are
Crowd Control or Zen moment for the first column to increase your damage or stability
For the middle column:
Perfect balance to lower the recoil
High Caliber Rounds so your target are having a tougher time shooting back
and any other perks that increase your stability like , Hand Laid Stock, Injection Mold, Braced Frame or Smallbore
So is this worth picking up?
The high impact archetype is a fun gun type to use, it is very refreshing to use a different scout rifle than the go-to Mida Multi Tool. Does it shoot slow? Yes it does but if you can hit all of your shots it is a very rewarding gun. Again you need to hit ALL of your shots, it is a less forgiving weapon than for example an auto rifle where you can miss one or two shots. Missing one or two shots here will significantly increase your time to kill and leave you exposed to enemy fire.
Since this gun is firing so slowly make sure that you are keeping your distance and have either a shotgun or sidearm to cover your close distances, probably it will be your shotgun wink wink ;).
