Swaye here with a Destiny video. Today we are going to talk about the Iron Banner Fusion Rifle Ashraven’s Flight. The description says: “An advanced energy weapon, forged by the lords of the Iron Banner”!.
I got mine dropped by a Rank 5 package, but you can also buy it when you reach level 5 or get this dropped by playing Iron Banner when at least one of your character is Rank 5 in this January Iron Banner.
Lets talk about what this weapon has to offer before I give you my thoughts. The base stats shows a high impact and range, it does not have an high impact like the Thesan FR4 or the Darkblade’s Spite, but it will do the job by killing a guardian most of the time with 1 shot , if your aim is ok, at a decent range.

My Ashraven’s Flight has the RED DOT-ORS, TrueSight IS, and Fastdraw IS, Battlerunner (run faster after a kill), enhanced battery (increase magazine size), skip rounds , which makes your rounds ricochets, feather mag to increase the reload speed and Life Support (kills with this weapon while wounded have a chance to regenerate health). This is very helpful since this is a fusion rifle and it needs time to charge. Usually while charging you will be under fire, unless you are pre-charging this around a corner, and Life support will help you recover quicker after a kill.
I use, Truesight to get that extra range and enhanced battery since the other two perks are not that useful.
To get the most out of this gun , the perks you will be looking for are:
On the first column:
Rangefinder, what most people might not know is that the range on a Fusion Rifle will increase the speed of your bolts. Obviously the faster your bolts hits your target the better.
Hot swap, to get that additional bonus accuracy when you swap weapons
Life support, to regenerate health once you get a kill
Army of One and Grenadier are always a solid option to decrease your grenade and/or melees
Middle Column
Accelerated coils , reducing the charge time
Single point sling, to switch weapons faster
Braced frame to increase the stability or rifled barrel to increase range
Last column:
Hidden hand, to improve the target acquisition.
Battle Runner if you spec for agility
and Hip fire is ok. I wouldnt rely on it , as the nerfs really made this perk less effective
So those are the stats, but the question is how does it perform and feel in the crucible.
Well it is actually pretty good if you are in the fusion rifle mindset. What I mean with that is if you keep your distance this can actually be a lot of fun! For a fusion rifle the range and the accuracy of this gun is good. I had instances where I thought the person was too far away but I still managed to kill him with one shot.
Also this is gun has the highest Aim Assistance in those high impact class of 63. Other Fusion Rifles that have an higher Aim Assistance all have a lower impact, like the Vortex or Long Far Gone. It feels like this fusion rifle is a bit more stickier than others. I feel like it one-hits moving target more often than other fusion rifles I tried before. Obviously this needs more testing before I can really confirm this.
So is this worth picking up? If you enjoy using fusion rifles I recommend picking this one up, it has a good range and feels consistent for a fusion rifle. This certainly won’t replace your shotgun or sniper but I havent had this much fun with a fusion rifle in a while. Just keep your distance, be in a Fusion Rifle mindset and have fun with this!
But if you have never picked up a fusion rifle or are not a fan of this gun type, then save your legendary marks and save it for something else. AshRaven’s Flight is simply not a gamechanger that can convert people into using fusion rifles.
