How to use the Foetracer Correctly, an in-depth review!
Hi Guardians welcome back for another destiny in-depth review where I review exotics and legendary gear in order to give you a comprehensive understanding of the gear so you can play this game as efficient and effective as possible.
In today's video we are going to review the Hunter exotic Helmet the Foetracer.
This helmet can give you increased resilience or recovery and the main exotic perk is RELENTLESS TRACKER which will Visually mark targeted enemies and Deals more damage to low-health marked enemies.
So this helmet basically gives you the Nightstalker keen scout perk for free and now it also gives that ability to your gunslinger or arc strider as well since this helmet is not subclass specific, and it gives you extra damage against low health enemies.
Relentless tracker will only track the enemy which you are targeting, so you won't be able to spam an auto rifles to mark multiple enemies, you will only be able to mark the last shot enemy.
Foetracer is one of those exotics that has the potential to change your play style and change your approach in how to engage with your enemy, especially in Pvp where targets are unpredictable in their movement in comparison with PVE where targets are mostly stationary and don't move around that much.
The ability to mark your target and see where they are behind a wall can be hugely beneficial to you and it can fundamentally change your playstyle as well.
With this helmet you would have more information than you would normally have and with this you can make better decisions on how to engage with your opponent.
If you mark your opponent and they are behind a wall, you can easily see when they peek out and you can be the one to fire first. Giving you an huge advantage in that gun fight.
But you can also be the aggressor as well, since you know exactly where the opponent is behind a corner, you can surprise them by coming from an unexpected angle. I prefer to surprise them by engaging from above, normally without the helmet it would take you a split second to identify your target and get your shots aligned, but with the foetracer you know exactly where the enemy is which will give you that extra advantage needed to win your gun fight.
This extra information is especially huge if you are playing the competitive playlist or trials, where team communication is so important here. You can tag an enemy and let your teammates know where the enemy is or which direction they are heading to so you can plan your engagement, it could be that your teammate is closeby and they can flank them or you can simply let your teammates know when the enemy is going to peek from around the corner so you can team fire him together getting the kill.
In Pve this helmet has it uses as well, but the marking ability is less of an important factor here. Enemies are mostly predictable and stationary , but the other aspect of the relentless tracker which deals more damage to low health enemies can be very useful against higher health enemies.
Against lower health enemies which usually already dies within a couple of shots the extra damage from this perk won't help you finish them quicker, since the extra damage on low health enemies usually applies on the final shot, which would have killed them anyways even if it has the base damage.
But this perk does work well against enemies that has an higher health like strike bosses, public event bosses or in the raid so you can take advantage of that increased damage bonus when their health starts to drop.
So how much of an increase is that bonus damage?
Well I tested this out in the EDZ against lower health and higher health enemies, and the damage increased by around 10% to 15% percent.
And your damage output can even be increased with damage increasing perks on your weapon like the rampage perk on the origin story auto rifle. So this can hugely increase your dps against a boss when it has low health.
To sum it up, the Foetracer with its relentless perk can give you extra information to make informative decisions on how to engage with your enemies in the crucible, this is highly beneficial to competitive matches where information about your opponent's positioning is key in winning your battles. And in normal crucible play knowing where your opponent is can help you decide on making an aggressive push or simply play the waiting game.
The extra damage boost when the enemy's health is low won't help in Pvp since the final bullet will kill your opponent anyways regardless of having that extra damage or not.
But this will become useful in PVE when you are fighting against bosses which typically has an higher health pool which means that you will have more time to benefit from this extra damage boost and this can help out in those clutch moments.
Due to the great benefits that you have in both PVp and PVE , and the fact that this helmet is not subclass specific so you can still use your favorite subclass. I am going to give this helmet an A.
Thank you so much for watching this review, I hope this video helped you out to get to know how to use the Foetracer correctly, so you can get the most out of your playing time.
