The Best Rise of Iron Artifact!
Hi Swaye here, the new Rise of Iron expansion will have artifacts with unique abilities! This is a great addition to the current game as before the artifacts were basically useless, it did not added any value to your build and it was a big hurdle to get to max light level as there were limited options in getting a high light level artifact.
So it is great to see that with the new re-worked artifacts that it can add some variety in your build.
At the moment of making this video there are 8 known artifacts and in this video I will give you in my opinion which one is the best. Again this is my recommendation to you all, it could be that you have a different opinion and that is fine, I would like to hear your thoughts as well, share it in the comments below.
So before I tell you what my top artifact is let’s have a quick overview of them all.
Memory of Radeghast: adds a new ability for sword heavy weapons to reflect projectiles, including ogre blasts and crucible rockets.
Memory of Perun: adds ability to highlight guardians with full super in yellow, and guardians with low health in red
Memory of Jolder: removes sprint cooldown
Memory of Silmar: dramatically reduces any damage dealt by Damage over Time effects , such as Thorn poison
Memory of Felwinter: lose your super, but gain an extra grenade and melee, and boost to all stats
Memory of Gheleon: gain detailed radar at all times, including when aiming a primary . It basically gives you precision radar and third eye.
Memory of Skorri: speeds super recharge for all nearby allies
Memory of Timur: Melee an enemy for a chance to make them an ally for a short time
So those are the 8 artifacts all named accordingly to the iron lords. Before I reveal my pick, let me explain what a best artifact should do for me. In the ideal scenario the best artifact should help and improve my gameplay, without too many negative side effect, it should not be situational where it is only beneficial at certain times and ideally the artifact should be useful in both Pvp and Pve.
Based on these requirement let's see which artefacts we can eliminate.
Lets start with the Memory of Radeghast, while it is useful to reflect projectiles, however this ability is very situational. In crucible this is only useful during heavy ammo moments and in Pve you can simple dodge most of the projectiles. Given the fact this is so situational and that it requires you to equip a sword for this artifact to be useful , we are going to eliminate this from our list.
Going through the same methodology , we will also eliminate Memory of Jolder, which removes sprint cooldown, and Memory of Silmar, which dramatically reduces damage over time effects.
While memory of Jolder does improve mobility it will not help me directly getting more kills or make me more lethal, and damage over time is again very situational.
Melee an enemy and have them as an ally sounds very interesting but I do not see any significant use with this, and thus we will also eliminate Memory of Timur.
Memory of Perun which highlights guardians with super and the ones that are in low health will be great in Pvp , but its useless in Pve. As a cautious player you should always keep your distance from your pvp enemies and the supers have a distinct sound so you can run away when you hear someone pop their supers. It will be kind of hard to run away from fist of havoc or nova bombs, but then again you can’t keep your distance from the ones that are having a full super forever you will have to face them sometimes. So Memory of Perun is also not the best artifact in my opinion.
That leaves us with Memory of Felwinter where you lose your super but gain an extra grenade and melee, and boost to all stats.
Memory of Gehelon where you gain a detailed radar at all time.
And Memory of Skorri which speeds super for all nearby allies.
While memory of skorri can be very helpful in pvp and pve to have faster supers for your allies it does require your teammates to be near you. In Pvp you do not want to group up all together, as it is very important to have team members to flank the enemies and in pve raids most of the time team members are required to split up to do some form of mechanics. So while it sounds very helpful I dont see much useability in practise.
So that leaves us with either the artifact to have radar up at all times or losing the super but gain an extra grenade and melee and boost to all stats.
And with that in my opinion the best artifact is the memory of felwinter which grants you an extra grenade , melee and boost to stats at the sacrifice of your super.
While gaining a radar at all the time is very helpful, I do have my concerns with that as it will make you rely on it too much. Knucklehead radar used to be my favorite exotic in year 1 but I realized that without it I felt very uncomfortable and I did not had any confidence in my spacial awareness. I noticed that in order to be a better player I should not be relying too much on the radar and thus the best artifact is in my opinion the Memory of Felwinter.
Yes you do lose your super, which can be insanely powerful and it offers you ability to have multi kills or counter a super. But having not only an extra Grenade but also an extra melee AND it also boost the rest of your stats you will basically become a superman in the crucible.
Not only that it will also let you rethink the use of your exotics, you can eliminate the use of exotics that enhance your super or the exotics that gives you an extra melee or grenade.
So while have a boost to your stats and having double grenades and melees, Hunters can improve their mobility even more with radiance dance machines or bones of eo, or be more lethal with bladedancers by pairing this up with ATS/8 Tarantella.
Imagine the Warlocks with the stability boost and rocking the thaloc and the RAM.
Or the Titan where you dont have to choose between the armamentarium and the twilight garrison anymore.
So given the vast amount of extra possible builds that the Memory of Felwinter offers this is in my opinion the best artifact that you should try to obtain in the Rise of Iron. It will make you a superman in the crucible and it allows for very interesting builds that have not been tried before.
Do you agree with me ? Let me know which artifact you think is the best.
